Here is the Suprglu link

I can't get Zoomclouds to work, although I will keep trying and asking. Until then, here is the link for my Suprglu cloud

Somebody please find me a brick wall!

NONE OF THESE TECHNOLOGIES WILL WORK WITH EACH OTHER!!! I am so frustrated. I created a tag cloud on suprglu but now I can't post the stupid RSS feed to zoomclouds. I am trying to create the widget but am having trouble with that also. I have never had a class that frustrated me more then this one yet I can't help but keep coming back and trying to make the stupid programs work. I think it would be less painful to beat my head on a brick wall repeatedly.

In the words of Justin "*sigh*Fun times, fun times".

So, my sister emails me to complain about how she got squirted at work by one of her fellow coworkers by a squirt gun and how she had to spend the rest of the day soaked. I mean, come on! I would love to have some action happen at my workplace, even if it is just me getting soaked with water! I told her to go to the local toy store, buy a super soaker, and keep it locked and loaded next to her desk. Then when Mr. Fun Guy comes for the next round she can play, too! Geesh, some people are never happy, lol.

Speaking of fun, I still have to write that 1500 word paper on Digital Copyright. I thought it would be easy because, its about digital copyright. How many different angles can it be seen from? Well, apparently alot since I am having trouble pinpointing what I should write about. I guess I am going to have to do what I did last time and write the common themes down to get a clear understanding of what I should write. blah and double blah!

Woo-hoo...

...I got a comment on my blog! I know, I know. How corny am I to be celebrating a comment on my blog? But, it is great to know that there are other people actually reading the blogs that are posted. I wish my classmates could read the blogs, but they are probably as busy as I am with all the work that has to be done for these classes. Speaking of which, I am almost done with my books that need to be read. I am planning on spending the day at the library tomorrow to look up other resources for the paper I plan to write. Since most of the subject matter has to deal with Copyright in the digital age, that will be my paper. I was a little confused, though, on the assignment. I thought it was a compare and contrast paper, which doesn't allow for too much of a point or conclusion to be drawn. In a post with tips for the next paper it was said we were to write a paper with our own conclusion and supporting resources plus the books. I wish I would have known that because that would have been much easier to write then the compare and contrast that I wrote.
I am completely stuck on the fence here with Copyright. After reading the books, it seems as if copyright laws have gotten out of hand. The very nature of a copyright law would not permit what the basic function of a computer does, which is to make a copy of a program or page as it downloads it onto its RAM (if I have gotten this tricky piece wrong, please forgive me. I don't have the books to double check). So this means, every person who owns a computer is not obeying the copyright law. It sounds ludricous that every person in the united states should be considered as commiting a crime by their computers basic function. This leads to one conclusion: change the code. It would be far easier to change the code then to change the functions of all computers. If all computer functions would change then Americans would have to buy new computers to comply with the law, which I would not do since I just bought a new computer. Therefore, it only makes since to change the code aka the law.

Daily Duties

I am playing catch up at work since I missed yesterday from my gallbladder taking out its frustrations on me. Sooo much to do! Especially since this is budget variance week. Taht is one extra task on top of what I usually do. But I managed to make it to one of the discussion chats last night and found out why my Scopus search will not hook up to my bloglines. I was totally missing a step! I could I have been so stupid? So, I am going to fix that tonight. I also have one book done plus I am coming close to finishing a second book and am about halfway through the third. I need to get these books read so i can write that paper. I really want to get an "A" in this class and in the other class. I have to get at least a B for my classes so I can continue with school.

Oh, da pain!

I woke up last night after only two hours of sleeping to this intense pain in my upper abdomen. I figured it had to do with my intolerance to lactose (because being the super smart girl that I am, I ate dairy products before I went to bed)and proceeded to walk the floor for the next two hours.

It was horrible. Nothing I did eased the discomfort. I tried sitting down to watch TV, I tried lying down on my side, I walked the floor. I drank some tea. In between me trying to figure out what was wrong I got sick twice. After the second time of running for the bathroom I decided I needed to go to the ER.

I was in the ER from about 2:30 to 6:30, during the time there I had blood drawn, I was given a pretty pink plastic tub since I got sick again once I was there, I was asked to pee in a cup (which never happened because I had already gone before I got to the hospital) and when the doctor saw me he asked four questions and diagnosed me.

I had a gallbladder attack. He went out in the hallway and got an ultrasound machine to check for stones and, of course, I have one. The size of it was as big as the tip of his little finger, which is a good sized stone. He gave me some pain medication and sent me home with a list of foods I can't eat anymore. So I called my doc and waiting for an appointment for a specialist.

More Reading...

Yep, that is all I have been doing is reading this entire time. The books are interesting but it is not fun to read if you have to read the books quickly in order to write a paper on them. I would prefer to read at a more leisurely pace but it isn't happening. Code V2 is somewhat interesting. It is more about how code can regulate the internet or, how it is currently regulating the internet. I found on part extremely interesting as to how the government can control the populace the intermedieries. His example is that nobody has to get a drivers license but since almost every place requires a form of ID, and your drivers license is a form of ID, it is almost impossible to get through life without one. And he is correct.

Uh-huh...Now what?

I am trying to figure out the webpage assignment we have to do. I downloaded Kompozr but now I am thinking I might have missed a step because the instructions said to configure it to Nvu. So, I am a little lost there. I'll probably post something on the discussion board and see if anyone can help. It doesn't help that I have been sick lately and extremely tired. Blah. I am reading the book Code 2.0 and so far it has held my attention. I certainly hope it continues to hold my attention, otherwise I will be in trouble :) Another 1500 paper to write and this time on four books! Double blah. I want to sleep :(

Slow Mode? I think not

I finished my paper and turned it in, yea! Lets throw a party! Too bad I have to read 4 more books and write another 1500 word paper before July 2. So, boo on that. I am so tired, too. All I want to do is sleep for an entire day and I can't because there is too much to do. Read books, write reports, read chapters, blogging, aggregating feeds, blah blah blah. Not to mention visiting with family and friends. I can't believe I have this much crap to do. It is as if when you are participating in a higher education program your entire life must stop, which it pretty much has. I can't tell you the last time I vaccumed or dusted.

Coming down the home stretch

Sweet! I am almost done with that paper I was freaking out about two days ago. I sat down and brainstormed by listing the main topics and themes each book covered. When I discovered each book touched upon the subject of economics I knew that was what needed to be written about. Best part is, once I had figured out what I wanted to write, the words flowed freely from my mind and onto the paper. I thought I would be writing this paper all weekend with no time to proofread. Turns out, I'll have plenty of time for that. Now, I just hope my digital drop box at school will work for me :)

Blah

For some reason, I just can't seem to write this paper that is due on Monday. I have tried and tried to get a start but my brain will not let me. I need to write a compare and contrast paper on three books that I have finally finished. I think I have found some common themes but as to whether of not I can write about them, no clue! I think economics, open access and if I need to quantity vs quality can be thrown in at the end. So hard to write when I only have so much time and business functions to attend. I have 1/5 of the paper written so far and somebody has already posted theirs! I feel like sitting down and crying :( Its been too long since I have written a paper and I am afraid I will not have the correct format or that the themes will not correlate to one another. And worst off, nobody comments on these blogs so I don't know if anyone will ever know about my frustration because there is only so much whining I am willing to post on the board.
On a plus side the new book for the Kushiel series is coming out :) I can't wait to buy it and just have it waiting for me to read when the semester is over!

Silent Scream

There is so much work to do before the 11th and, worst of all, I don't want to do it! I am starting to drag and it isn't even the middle of the term yet :( I can feel my entire body protesting when I pick up the current book I am reading or get on the computer to tag my items. ugh. Posting a blog isn't so much work and I don't protest letting others know how I feel. I am just so overwhelmed. 200 tags to work on (almost done!), 1.5 books to read, a 15oo page paper to write plus a 250 word response to write, another 25 tags to work on since I still don't have my user id and pw to access the site. blah.

Keeping up

Wow...It is almost half way through June (that is what I tell myself to keep myself going). I cannot believe it and the first of the big papers is almost due. I am not even half way through my second book. I just can't seem to concentrate and I need to concentrate so I can do well. My first discussion question went all right. I wish I could have done better but I guess missing only 1.5 points isn't bad. I wanted an "A". I'll just have to do better next time.

Android librarian

As I was reading the responses for the "Librarian as guardian" question, I remembered a movie I watched (I can’t remember the name of it now) in which any person who owned a phone had access to a library from it (Maybe it was The DiVinci Code). When I first saw the clip, I thought how cool to be able to access information from anywhere. But upon further reflection, I am not so sure I like the idea. Could it be, and I certainly hope not, that a face-to-face encounter with a librarian will be a thing of the past? Will virtual office hours and digital libraries wipe out the need for a friendly face who offers assistance? In the future, will a library bring up the image of a cool, sterile room filled with workstations and not a cozy atmosphere with rows upon rows of books. I find the prospect of being able to access a library from anywhere exciting and devastating. It is exciting because I believe that it is the main goal of creating digital libraries and devastating because I feel the end of the librarian, as we know them today, may be drawing to a close. Which means the birth of a new type of librarian should be happening. Is this what we are? Are we the new librarians for the future or are we the prototypes for the future of library and information science since we are going through the transition stage with the new digital technology? Will we truely be needed to help the patron once digital technology is commonplace in society? Or will we be in the background making digital copies of paper material to share on netwroks?
