Oh, da pain!

I woke up last night after only two hours of sleeping to this intense pain in my upper abdomen. I figured it had to do with my intolerance to lactose (because being the super smart girl that I am, I ate dairy products before I went to bed)and proceeded to walk the floor for the next two hours.

It was horrible. Nothing I did eased the discomfort. I tried sitting down to watch TV, I tried lying down on my side, I walked the floor. I drank some tea. In between me trying to figure out what was wrong I got sick twice. After the second time of running for the bathroom I decided I needed to go to the ER.

I was in the ER from about 2:30 to 6:30, during the time there I had blood drawn, I was given a pretty pink plastic tub since I got sick again once I was there, I was asked to pee in a cup (which never happened because I had already gone before I got to the hospital) and when the doctor saw me he asked four questions and diagnosed me.

I had a gallbladder attack. He went out in the hallway and got an ultrasound machine to check for stones and, of course, I have one. The size of it was as big as the tip of his little finger, which is a good sized stone. He gave me some pain medication and sent me home with a list of foods I can't eat anymore. So I called my doc and waiting for an appointment for a specialist.

    Laraine,
My husband had his gall bladder out two years ago. We went to the emergency room four times in 5 days before they finally decided that was what the problem was. He was in so much pain we thought it was a heart attack. So I know what you're going thru. He had the thing taken out and the doctor awarded him "worst gallbladder of the year" award because it was so inflammed and huge. He's been much better ever since. Good luck with yours.
